Great Night at Club Josephina’s 3rd Anniversary!

July 24, 2010

I had an invitation from Josephina Bonetto to attend the 3rd Anniversary of her brilliant ‘Club Josephina’.  I had met and interviewed Josephina a couple of years ago when she had an art display in her gallery in Virtual Mayfair, it was one of the first set of interviews I had done for Virtually London (lite) and Josephina was very nice as well as very talented.  I went over to the club with Drax and the theme for the party was ‘decadence’ and all the crowd looked really good.    It was a lovely night, congratulations Josephina on her club’s 3rd Anniversary!

The  next day I went exploring again and ended up in one of those beautiful fantasy landscaped sims, but not before I had been shopping, seeing a pair of boots that I really liked in Coco’s, I bought them and put them on!  Walking around with a spring in my step at seeing my nice new boots, I spotted a little copse with a dance animation inside that had 7 or eight dance balls for people to dance in a circle. Being on my own didn’t put me off, as I chose a dance ball and skipped and danced around a bit like Isadora Duncan.  Of  course you can’t be alone for long in SL, people think you are up to something and have to come over, next thing some avs were heading in my direction.  I decided to move away and I think the other avs must have wondered what I was doing dancing all on my own.  I went and stood in the meadow and thought how lovely people made these places, the virtual flowers are just wonderful.  Well I got my new boots (yes more new boots they seem to be a weakness with me!), and I got to have a dance, albeit on my own, but it was fun! so I was quite happy!

Dance of the CNN ireporters and the Seven Veils Plus Torley Linden

July 16, 2010

I had a chance meeting with one of the famous Lindens yesterday, as I explored the stuff in showcase I saw a new entry for Book Island and teleported over there.  I must have been one of the first to arrive as the place was deserted.  Then on my radar I saw Torley Linden was standing not too far from where I was, so I headed over to say hello!  It was the first time I had seen him and he looked very colourful in his bright clothes.  Torley seemed to be afk at first when I said Hi, and then I asked if I could take his picture, I said ‘Hi Torley I’m being a nuisance sorry!”  He was very nice, he said “Oh it’s okay thanks Janey! friendly greetings to you :D, that’s so nice of ya, I’m just hanging out and testing stuff”  With that he told me I could take as many pictures as I wanted and asked if I wanted him to stand closer. On impulse I wrote about my meeting with Torley for CNN, it’s not every day you meet such a highly regarded member of Lindens Labs and he was so friendly! Nice to meet you Torley!!

I’m not sure we hadn’t all been on the vino on Tuesday night at the CNN meetings, I’d dropped into the earlier meeting  with Henry Hanks and one of the other members of the group seemed to be talking politics all the time, so I’m not sure which way the discussion was supposed to be going, Henry is off now till August anyways, so I hope he has a nice break.  I went to Nicole’s meeting later on and she was in very high spirits, in fact Nicole suggested we have a dance while the meeting was going on, and it was comical to watch.  I passed Nicole the Michael Jackson dance ao and then decided to join in as did Hibiscus and Ed.  A girl arrived right in the middle of things and I think she thought we were completely off our trolleys, but it was fun, and strangely enough we got some good ground covered with the topics this week.

There was lots going on last night as it was Amourette’s Rez Day party and she wanted everyone to dress in  Belly Dancing costumes.  It was fun dressing up in something different and when I got there the crowd all looked great, Am looked terrific!  It turned out to be one of the guy’s Rez days too, so we congratulated both Am and Spadylexy.

I got a costume from Barerose for the party and I was very pleased with it, looks like I’ll have to find a camel to go trekking across the desert to wear it again, but it was a lovely evening!

The party finished at 10pm (Uk) and then I got a message from Pink that there was a Bikers evening at the West End Club.  It was quick change from me, Hibiscus and Ed and we went over there.  Dj Seany was putting on some really good rock ‘n roll music and we had a brilliant time, the club looked amazing! Phew, think it’s an early night for me tonight!!

It’s Nice to Chat!

July 9, 2010

It’s nice to have time on your hands to meet your friends and catch up with what’s going on.  I went over to the Union Jack Pub in Tropical Harmony and sat with Drax chatting about everything under the sun.

It was almost like sitting outside a real life pub on a nice summer evening, no rush, just enjoying the peace and quiet and watching the world go by.  Soon we were joined by Austin Static and Alt Lexington and then friend Hibiscus.  I saw Pixi on line and asked her over, but being ever tidy she was sorting her inventory so she said she would meet up another time (don’t mention out of control inventories!).  Alt went off exploring and Austin and Hib sat down with Drax and I.

We talked about the places we like to go and the clubs and things.  I suspect the clubs are very import in SL, as it’s where a lot of people meet, and it’s nice to be part of a regular crowd who all greet each other and have a laugh.  I dropped into the West End Club last night and they had a best in animal skin night, I thought it was a normal evening, but it turned out to be very funny so I’ll feature it in Virtually London (Lite) next week!

Before we met outside the Union Jack Pub, Drax and I had been exploring and ended up at a funfair in one of the sims.  We had lots of fun looking around and having a go on the rides.

Drax is always one to try stuff out and he led the way, even finding he could juggle very professionally on one of the stalls.  He gets hungry a lot and was seeking out a hamburger stall after the juggling, but couldn’t find one.  In the end he thought he would catch his own cow and put it in a sandwich, but the cow wasn’t having any of it and threw him off!

He had to settle for a hotdog in the end, the cow looked relieved!!!

Catching Up and Rocking and Rolling!

July 1, 2010

It’s surprising how a couple of days out has put me behind with stuff, I had stories to go on Virtually London (lite) last week that I had to re-think and other new stories to fit in this week, but at least I’m never short of content as there is so much going on with London related stuff in SL.   Even in Virtual London I noticed a new club has been built just along from our shop in Kensington.  I spotted Ed and Isobel outside of the new ‘Rendezvous’ and then Kensington Manager Rob Fentwich dropped by for a chat.  Rob was telling us that this club would be different to the other clubs with new management, so it will be exciting to have it just a stones throw away from where we are based so we can pop in to ‘boogy on down’ when it opens.  Isobel said she may be having a garden party and Rob was showing us the latest in Barbeques, I think this one was a giant marshmallow!

I met up with Drax later and we had a look at the SL7B exhibits (SL 7th Birthday).  We spotted a familiar sight, it was the Coach and Horses pub from Virtual London, and like last year, London had their own stand there.  The actual SL7B site is huge and I would have liked to have seen more notecards about the exhibits and what the ideas where behind them on each stand, but it is very much up to the person who builds each one and some did do that, but not all.  There were some fantastic builds there though and lots of people used their imaginations to make them stand out from the others.

Drax and I went over to Runaround Sue’s  after, for a bit of Rock ‘n Roll, it was lots of fun and we surprised ourselves at how good we could dance!

We had a great time, and who knows, maybe the new Rendezvous club will be for a bit of Rock ‘n Roll too, we shall have to wait and see!!
