Busy Halloween Night in Virtual London And New Jazz Club!

November 1, 2009

You wonder what SL will be  like without Halloween!  It seems it’s a big deal all around the world, celebrating the night that the witches and spirits come out to play.  Not so much for us in the UK, but it seems we are catching up a bit with trick or treat for the kids, which has become a custom over here too.  The grid had so many haunted places to visit this year and so many parties arranged, you couldn’t be everywhere  at once which was a shame.  I had already been to some early parties.  Hibiscus had looked fabulous in her witches outfit the other night at the Garden Cafe party, she got the dress as a bargain and she is good at spotting the right thing to wear.

I had been dressed as a witch too that night, and wanted something different for last night’s parties in SL London.  I went off wandering earlier in the day and went over to a store called Evie’s Closet.  I had covered Evie’s designs at the Virtual London Fashion Week and really loved her beautiful gowns, so I decided to join the group.  Luckily I did, as I got a free faery outfit on joining, and it was a gorgeous floaty dress with autumn colours.  I put it on when I got back to my place and decided it would look ok if I put a pale skin with it.  I found a goth skin and decided that would do for the parties.

AAAA H ME OUTSIDE CLUB

I went over to the Mayhem Club in SL Mayfair, as their evening started earlier than the Underground Club, and the place was already packed out.  Ed joined me over there and people looked amazing, Ed had his Zombie skin on as well.

AAAA MAYHEM BRIE

SL London Director Brie Janick dropped into the Mayhem dressed as a ghostly bride and she looked great, I’ve no idea where she found that outfit, but it was terrific.  Brie was dj’ing at the Underground Club party later and I was pleased to see her call into the Mayhem Club.  There is something nice happening to Virtual London, a coming together of managers, Torric Rodas (who runs Mayfair)  and Brie seem to be working together now for all of Virtual London and you can see things have settled down.  There are things planned for Virtual London that sound just what we want there, I will, of course be publishing them in Virtually London (lite) as they take shape!  I was lucky last night though, I saw a couple of people in The Kensington building in Virtual Kensington, so I decided to go over and have a chat with one of them.  Hib had always said that The Kensington building would be ideal for the Jazz club that London so badly needs, and that is exactly what’s happening, a new Jazz club is being set up there.  I spoke to Almo Skytower, who was setting the whole thing up, and he appears to have the right ideas about how it should look with the right kind of music too, so I am waiting for him to send me the final details before I publish the good news to Virtual Londoners in a few days.

AAAA H JAZZ

After the Mayhem Club I went over to the Underground Club and once again it was packed out.  I counted 50 people in Knightsbridge and another 50 in Mayfair at one time, just amazing!

AAAA H UGC

UGC Manager Seany and his team had made the club look fantastic and in the end I could hardly move my camera about as the amount of people in the sim caused so much lag.  So much chatter was  going on that it was hard to follow in the text chat, people were having a great time and filled the text with banter and gestures!  One thing is a problem though, you get so many different chats going on, as the group chats start up as well, that you sometimes miss tags of people trying to IM you and you may not always be available if you are talking to one or two people at the same time.  Any Mr or Ms Lindens who are reading this, and I know you do sometimes, could you send a note to your boss asking if we can have a pre-loaded message in our IM response saying ‘Unavailable for IM’s a the present time’ that we can set, not just ‘Busy’ that stops us reading the local chat unless we have the chat window open.  From people like me’s point of view, sometimes I get three or four IM’s coming in all at once, I would like to pick one IM to answer at a time and be able to load the ‘Unavailable’ message on for any other incoming IM’s.  Just a suggestion!

Well I supposed Halloween is finished, but just around the corner is Christmas, (no not Winterval or EndofYearAval, Christmas!  like it should be!), so I will be looking forward to exploring all the sites that people will now be setting up, I can’t wait!!!

Victoriana, Bewitching Party, CNN Meet and Wetherbys

October 28, 2009

There has been lots going on and I have been doing a great deal of writing, it’s things that grab me so it’s been enjoyable.  Hibiscus has rented her own place in the Victoriana sim.  It’s just around the corner from friend Boye Jervil’s  wonderful gallery so she has a good neighbour.  I went over to have a look at Hib’s new house and I put on a Victorian outfit that I had got in the mad scramble when one of the shops there had given away their merchandise for free.  After being nearly trampled to death I got quite a few outfits and  there are a few nice ones.  I must admit to feeling a bit odd dressed in these heavy skirts and high necks, Victorian times aren’t really a period I would have picked, I like Regency stuff best, but the Victorian age is very popular in SL.

We are steaming ahead to Halloween and there are a lot of events and parties so I thought I would go over to Mayfair, putting on my best witche’s outfit, and join in the fun at the Garden Cafe. They had gone to a lot of trouble with the decorations and the place looked really good.  It was a great night and everyone was really having a good time.

I wrote about the party and put it on Virtually London (lite) and also decided to put it on CNN, with a little bit here and there added, as they are after Halloween stories this week.  I’d already put about the Burning Man festival on CNN this week,  as I had been lucky enough to visit the sim just as they set fire to the effigy.  I’d had no idea what it was all about until SL had made such a big event out of it.

Then yesterday I saw in notices that a really beautiful clothes store, Wetherbys, had closed down.  It had looked like one of SL’s successes and it was a shock to hear the news.  As the afternoon went on, the lady who owns the store released some information as to why the store had gone.  It seemed that her ex-boyfriend had acquired the land she rented off  the sim owner and then deleted the entire shop, along with some other shops at different locations too.  She had paid her rent in time as well, so this should not have happened.  It was literally 30 minutes before I was due at the CNN meeting, but I decided to quickly write up the story, sort out the one picture I had of me and Hibs in the store (adding a picture of the pink notegiver box that Mrs Wetherby had sent around to everyone) and get it uploaded, which I managed with 4 minutes to spare before I went over to CNN Island to meet CNN Producer Nicole and the other ireporters. (see Store Owner Seeks Protection for Tenants).  The Wetherby group plan to hold protests in SL about tenant’s rights and good luck to them, in my opinion I think the sim owner should have a look at the events again and consider if she has acted unfairly, maybe she only had one side of the story from a man who appears to seek vengeance and perhaps this is a warning too about SL relationships.  As far as your own business is concerned in SL maybe it’s a good idea to make sure you protect all your own assets and are the key owner to the land and merchandise, but unless you can afford a whole sim, this is not easy, as people who own just a parcel on a sim are not really the owners at all, they just rent it at the end of the day.

Visit to Murray and the Virtually London Blog

October 11, 2009

Murray blog

I had been sitting chatting to Hibiscus and Ed in our office in SL Kensington and TD Reinard popped in to tell us about the Halloween setting he had just built further up the road, it’s a truly fantastic haunted church and graveyard and he had gone to a lot of trouble to make it creepy.  I mentioned to Hib and Ed that this sort of thing made me want to open Virtually London (lite) again, as there are so many people working hard like TD to keep everyone in Virtual London happy and it only seems fair  that they should get a mention in a blog, so everyone knows their stuff is there, (besides hearing about it in the group notices which some people miss).  I thought about it long and hard over night and decided that I would publish events in SL London again on the blog, as we can’t fill Our Virtual Trilogy with just London news, but only short news items that I think will interest SL Londoners of places to see and forthcoming events.

Ghost main

Clive and Pink came into the office for a chat as well, and it’s nice to get visitors, the office feels more like a proper base now and my little cat Max runs around when I’m not there too.  In fact when I am there, he quite often ignores me now and goes over to Ed or Hib, I’m not sure how this has happened as I haven’t programmed him to do that, scary or what!!

When I logged on today I suddenly got a fancy to go back to Murray, my original home, just to see what it was like after all this time.  When I arrived the place was totally empty and I left my av there while I went off to do something in real life.  When I came back I saw that Rubi one of my friends had arrived and it was really nice seeing her again.  As we stood there we were joined by some more of the gang, Roach, Treasure and Captive (and Asahi who I had not met before), it was just like old times as we stood talking. It’s one place that stays the same, a little grassy area by the sea and it’s been the scene for griefing, parties, arguments, joy and tears, and I think we are lucky that, as everything else changes in SL, our first home always seems to be there to go back to!

Cher’s New Blog and Halloween Night

November 1, 2008

Mate Cher Demonge has started a fantastic blog and I’ve got a link on the right hand side of my page for easy loading (under ‘friends’), he’s made a great start so far, and it looks like a lively read!!  Cher is bringing out a terrific range in men’s clothing, his collection will be called ‘Hello’ and he and Drax are both modelling two of his new jackets in the pic below, and don’t they both look handsome!!! (http://cherishdemonge.blogspot.com/)

Well it was Halloween last night and I met up with Hibiscus and we both went exploring.  We went to a couple of haunted houses and the first one had a ride that you could go on.  It took you on quite a long journey though dark tunnels that were filled with spooks and bloodthirsty sights, it was very well done and a good laugh.

After the scary ride we went over to another haunted house and what fun! as we explored the rooms which had a great atmosphere, full of cobwebs, giant spider and a ghosts.

Upstairs there was a nursery and the girl from the film ‘The Exorcist’ stood on the bed with her head turning round and you could hear the bones in her neck grinding, yuck!

People had gone to a lot of trouble with these amazing places, it’s just fantastic what they have put into it all.  From there we decided to pop into the Underground Club in SL Knightsbridge, putting on our fancy dresses and the place was packed, I counted 50 avs at one time and they were having a great time, all in fancy dress.

After taking lots of pictures to put in the Virtually London (Lite) blog for next week, we moved on to Murray and Ruskin, Vix, Roach, Saab and Tah, along with a few others were celebrating with a mobile dance floor and a giant bonfire which Rusk and Vix sat on top of.

Little Nazna turned up looking extra cute and Drax and Cher came over to join us, and we all had a good time.  An unfortunate newbie arrived at one point and kept shouting in voice, although we kept saying we could hear him, he just kept on and on and in the end a couple of the guys decided to let loose with their weapons, booting him away into the distance.  He came back still shouting and got booted again.  In the end he took the hint and went off to shout at someone else.

It was a great night with lots of places to visit and not enough time to get around to them all. Well done all the sim owners in sl for creating such a wonderful Halloween for all the residence. Also not forgetting our friends at Murray for making such a brilliant party.

Happy Rez Day Treasure and Gunter!!

October 26, 2008

Hibiscus and I had been sitting with Cher as I interviewed him for the London Blog next week, about time we featured Cher as he is doing such a good job in the London sims helping with the roads and buildings there, as well as running his own Fashion House Bonjour.  Suddenly I got an IM from Ruskin saying could we come over as it was Treasure’s Rez day and they were having a party in Murray.  Vix also IM me, so we decided to finish the interview off later and go on over.  It turned out it was Gunter’s Rez day as well, but he was nowhere to be found, (if you are reading this Happy Rez Day Gunter!!!)   Treasure looked beautiful in a long full skirted gown and unusual headdress that showed off her pretty face.

Murray was buzzing, they had created a great dance floor, fabulously decorded, and everyone was dancing and having a good time.  Someone had got Treasure a cake as well!

Hib, Cher and me joined in the dancing and Cher managed to get us some great music which is very hard to do in Murray.  When you think it is just an open landscape with a few trees, they did well to throw the party there.  They are planning one for Halloween so that should be good, providing the griefers stay away.

As the evening went on people began to let themselves go and enjoyed themselves even more.  Treasure did some pole dancing, looking very sexy and Cher took his shirt off looking dead handsome!  Not sure if it was all a bit much for the lady on the left of the above picture as she had to cover her eyes!

Hope Treasure (and Gunter wherever he went!) had a very good time, just fancy, they have been in SL a year now, seems like we have all been good friends for a long time!!  Happy Rez Day to them both.
